Description

A pamphlet against male dominance

This collage of sequences and archival material depicts aspects of the patriarchal order, which not only makes women the property of men but also divides the male-dominated world into strong and weak, rulers and ruled. It quotes myths that justify the subjugation of women, as well as examples from European history where the pursuit of power led to wars and the subjugation and exploitation of parts of the world now known as the 'Third World'. And what if the patriarchal order no longer existed? "Then the delusion of progress would also be forgotten, the one that presents the acquisition of power as development, that is focused on possession, on domination, instead of on being, on life. The arrogance of white people, who make themselves the measure of all things and thus grant themselves the right to destroy foreign cultures, would also be forgotten. For arrogance and the delusion of progress are the cornerstones of male dominance." Then the cult of masculinity would seem to us like a grotesque relic from an inhuman prehistory – a murderous stupidity. – One should be allowed to dream a little. But do we still have time to dream?‚
