A war report from the Middle Ages

15,00

Description

„"In September 1962, rebelling officers in Yemen overthrew Imam El Badr. The Republic was proclaimed in Sana'a. The former ruler was presumed dead. Nevertheless, royalist tribes in the north organized resistance against the Republic. After producing a photo report on the Republican side, we went to the royalist guerrillas in search of the missing Imam. We found El Badr and for six weeks shared the lives of the northern Yemeni tribes fighting against the fledgling Republic and the Egyptian troops who had rushed to its aid. Here we filmed our first feature-length documentary: a war report from a world where terms like feudalism, theocracy, king, and vassals have different meanings than in Western culture."“

Only a French version of this film exists. The German version is lost. The film was produced in connection with several reports in the magazine 'Stern', which you can read on this website under the tab 'Reports/Yemen'.

If you know where a copy of the German version is located, we would be very grateful for a tip!
